Michell Instruments
Anglia Wright Advice is the appointed health and safety consultancy for Michell Instruments and has been working closely for the last 18 months with the new Director responsible for Health and Safety to actively implement the company health and safety policy.
Regular progress meetings with key staff members has seen the development of monitoring tools, bespoke guidance documents and the creation of new training sessions. In partnership with Health and Safety Works Limited, AWA have created a Michell Instruments Manual Handling Guidance document, presented to each member of staff through a series of bespoke Manual Handling Awareness Sessions.
AWA also designed a H&S Induction course which is delivered to all new employees and a series of H&S bulletins have been developed to provide staff with regular updates relevant to Michell.
Ongoing H&S Advice and Training
For a laboratory instrument designer and manufacturer, on-going support is provided to the in-house health and safety officer. This included a series of interactive one-to-one tutorials tailored to the company’s core business to provide knowledge of health and safety legislation and responsibilities of the role.
Health and Safety Management of PPM Activities
For a national planned, preventative maintenance engineering company a Management approach was designed and incorporated into a Management Plan to ensure health and safety management was an integral part of this important contract.

Anglia Wright Advice provides its clients with management advice and training on asbestos management.
Policy and Procedure Development
For a number of smaller building contractors, policies have been developed along with generic risk assessments and procedures covering typical activities which can be used by the contractor to assess risks and develop effective procedures on specific building contracts. This can also be used to demonstrate competence when tendering for new contracts.
Fire Safety
For an American owned Business Support Systems provider Fire risk assessments have been carried out in each building to identify shortcomings in existing fire safety arrangements and make recommendations for necessary action.
Display Screen Assessment
For a large government agency a programme of assessments was carried out which enabled common issues to be identified and a more ergonomic purchasing policy to be developed for furniture and layout specifications; improving the working environment for all personnel.
Health and Safety Reviews and Audits
Assist our clients to develop effective strategies for raising the health and safety profile within their organisations, identify training needs, and monitor improvement in health and safety performance.
